Valet Rods Aren't Used for Parking?

Before my internship at The Stow Company began, I had a preconceived notion that I knew quite a bit about life. After all, I am going into my senior year of college, on the Dean's List, and I am the Vice President of my school's chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America. But something as simple as a valet rod made me realize that I still have much to learn in the world of closets and home organization. As the new intern, I found myself sitting in an important meeting, smiling and acting like I knew what a valet rod was, its purpose, its placement, etc. I assumed that it was part of a closet organizer, but my initial thought was that it was a rod used to aid in valet parking. My puzzled smile was quickly confronted by a coworker asking, "Do you even know what a valet rod is?" My smile faded, and I shamefully shook my head "no." I didn't have a clue.

Something sparked inside of me and I wanted to learn more. I am well versed in subjects pertaining to advertising and public relations, but closets and home organization are definitely a new territory for me. Besides knowing that a valet rod is an accessory for closet systems, I did some research to learn more, and this is what I found out:

Valet Rod
  • A valet rod's main purpose is for temporarily holding clothes. It pulls out for hanging onto freshly ironed clothes or "tomorrow's clothes."
  • They can make life less stressful and help with time management. The rod allows for you to plan ahead, making time for other obligations such as tidying the house, and possibly even getting a few more minutes of shut eye.
  • Not only are they useful in a master closet, valet rods work great for kids' rooms. You can agree on what your children are wearing the night before and hang out each outfit on a valet rod. It avoids morning conflicts and makes it easier to get out on time.
  • The rods are available in many different finishes to complement other hardware and accessories in the same space.
  • Valet rods are simple to install yourself so it's easy to add it to your closet or laundry organizer.
  • They are mainly found in closets and laundry rooms

I concluded that this simple rod can save someone from a lot of potential headache. Well, it's true - you really do learn something new every day...and of course, now I feel as though I am in dire need of a valet rod for my closet.
