I am the master of lists. It's as though my weekly planner has been permanently glued to my side and my smartphone is my other sidekick. In this case, three is not a crowd. With the to-do lists constantly by my side and the beeping reminders set, they help me stay organized.

Do you feel like you don’t have enough time in a day to complete tasks? When you’re working, running errands, maintaining the home, and possibly even taking care of children—the time goes by pretty quickly. Here are some things that help me stay organized, especially when life is hectic.

1. Prioritize: Put critical things first. Ask yourself, “What MUST be completed?” Each task has a level of importance, and once tasks are ranked either as the most important or something that can wait until a later date, the most critical items will be completed.

2. Make a list: Although some individuals claim that the sight of a list can be overbearing and stressful, creating a list will allow you to sort your thoughts and identify exactly what must be completed. If an overwhelming amount of stress occurs upon viewing the list, label individual index cards with assigned tasks and recycle each after the task is completed.

3. Find time: Set time aside, even if it is only one hour a day, to complete something that is important to you. This will leave you feeling refreshed and confident in your abilities to accomplish tasks.
